Song For women her feeling & her life !!!!!

O Ri Chiraiya
Nanhi si chidiya
Angnaa mein phir aaja re

O Ri Chiraiya
Nanhi si chidiya
Angnaa mein phir aaja re

Andhiyara hai ghana aur lahu se sana
Kirno ke tinke ambar se chunn ke
Angna mein phir aaja re
Humne tujhpe hazaro sitam hain kiye
Humne tujhpe jahaan bhar ke zulm kiye
Humne socha nahi
Tu jo ud jaayegi
Ye zameen tere bin sooni reh jaayegi
Kiske dum pe sajega angna mera

O Ri Chiraiya, meri Chiraiya

Angnaa mein phir aaja re
Tere pankho mein saare sitare jadu
Teri chunar satrangi bunu
Tere kaajal mein main kaali raina bharu
Teri mehandi mein main kacchi dhoop malu
Tere naino sajaa doon naya sapna

O Ri Chiraiya, meri Chiraiya
Angnaa mein phir aaja re

O Ri Chiraiya
Nanhi si chidiya
Angnaa mein phir aaja re
O Ri Chiraiya...

(O Ri Chiraiya is dedicated to all those girls who did not get a chance to live in this world. This is the song from very first episode of Satyamev Jayate. In this episode Aamir Khan deals with a critical issue of female foeticide in India.
O Ri Chiraiya is sung and lyrics are written by Swanand Kirkire under the music direction of talented musician Ram Sampath.)

Are Female Photographers safe? Is there any changes developed so far ?

Generally speaking, I don't think anything has changed. Men who are well-educated and reasonable continue to be sensitive in dealing with women. But others haven't changed their behavior despite increased media coverage on the issues of gang rape and the discrimination of women.

There are two sides of the coin. It is indeed a positive development that the media have been covering women's issues and the debate surrounding sexual violence. Previously, these reports only made it to page three, now they are front page news. The government has also become more active, even though they mostly just pay lip service.

Media reported every detail of the brutal gang rape on December 16. Don't you think there is a lack of sensitivity towards the victims in these reports?
My answer will be Yes, that's true. Sometimes, there is a lack of sensitivity. It's not that these rapes are a new phenomenon. However, after the gang rape last year and the subsequent protests, more and more cases are being reported and often very aggressively. Indian media organizations are predominantly concerned about ratings and outdoing their competitors, which results in sensationalism. This is wrong.

Indian female journalists 'must take precautions'

After the brutal gang rape of a photographer in Mumbai which stirred memories of a similar attack in New Delhi late last year, the dangers of being a female journalist in India.

According to police reports, the latest incident occurred on Thursday, August 22 in an isolated part of India's business hub of Mumbai, where the 22-year-old woman, accompanied by a male colleague, was on assignment to take pictures of an abandoned textile factory. Five men are said to have confronted her with an offer to help her get permission to shoot inside the building.
The young photojournalist was then reportedly gang raped while her male colleague was tied up and beaten. The case was reminiscent of the fatal December gang rape of a young university student in New Delhi that sent shock waves across the country.
I wouldn't say the job is fundamentally dangerous, but one must take precautions. For instance, female journalists should avoid walking home alone at night. However, many of my colleagues have no choice since they finish work between 10.00 p.m. and midnight.
It's not as if we would all be attacked and raped, but such incidents occur time and again. We know that women are not safe in cities such as Delhi, especially in busses. The subway is safer as there is more security personnel and better surveillance. There are hence fewer cases of sexual harassment in the Delhi Metro.
There are less people on the streets after 9.00 or 10.00 p.m. and, as a woman, you feel insecure when you are being stared at. When women get out of the bus or metro and start walking home, they feel insecure as the streets are not well lit. There are many things that can happen, ranging from harassment and assault to rape. However, one should not exaggerate as these things don't happen every day.
Nowadays, all media companies in the country provide transportation to employees commuting late at night. After the fatal gang rape of a medical student last winter, security guards are assigned to all the vehicles transporting female employees to ensure their safety. A woman must never be the last person to be dropped off.

FlashBack to the hell faced by a female Photographer !!!!!!!!

Photographer gang-raped in old Mahalaxmi mill in Mumbai

MUMBAI: Three among a group of five men raped a 22-year-old photographer, interning for a lifestyle magazine, after bashing up her male colleague at an abandoned mill close to the railway tracks in the Mahalaxmi area on Thursday evening.

The traumatised girl's friends and family filed a complaint of rape at the N M Joshi Marg police station late on Thursday. Police officials said they had sent the girl to Jaslok Hospital for a medical examination before registering the complaint. The family said the girl had suffered some internal injuries and bleeding but was responding well to treatment.

The incident happened between 5pm and 6pm when the girl and her colleague were at Shakti Mills, very close to the railway tracks in the Mahalaxmi area, shooting for a magazine assignment. Five men barged into the mill, saying the two had trespassed into "railway property". The two would have to accompany them to their "senior officers", the men said.

An altercation ensued, during which the men pounced on the girl and her colleague. They first bashed up the colleague and, while two of them pinned him down, the remaining three took the girl to a corner and then raped her. They then left the mill compound, leaving the traumatised girl and her injured friend.

The two waited for some time before getting out of the mill. They then called their friends and her family and went to the police station to register a complaint of rape. "I have asked zonal deputy commissioner Vinayak Deshmukh to visit the victim and the spot of the crime," additional commissioner of police (central) Praveen Salunkhe said. "We are in the process of identifying the culprits," he added. An officer from the N M Joshi Marg police station said a few youths had already been picked up for being questioned. He expressed confidence that the guilty would be arrested soon.

"So far about 20 suspects have been grilled but we could not get any lead. Our efforts are on to track down the accused," a police officer involved in the probe said on Friday morning.

Police have also prepared the sketches of five suspects in the gang-rape case. The sketches were released on Friday morning.

A special squad has been formed by the local police as well as by the crime branch to probe into the case and investigators have fanned out across the city to trace the accused.

The Role of Gender in Photographic Works: Do Men and Women Capture Different Photographs?

Gender usually plays a significant role in the works of photographers and
causes men and women to take different photographs. Nowadays, photographs
and photography have a crucial and pivotal status in societies. The majority of the
events and accidents unfolding in various parts of the world are communicated
to the people via newspapers, magazines, internet and television, and undoubtedly,
photographs play an imperative role in all of these media.

It is not surprising that photography is called ‘the eyes of modernity’ and imagining the world without photographs is very difficult. Additionally, one of the topics that researchers
have paid a lot of attention to in the past century is the subject of gender, and
the similarities and differences between men and women. Female photographers
have always been an irrefutable part of the history of photography, and today, we
are seeing a dramatic growth in their presence and success in different genres of
photography. Hence, this question is raised that ‘do men and women capture different
photographs?’ Some valuable researches have been carried out in the past
decades on the subject of gender and also the differences between how men and
women see, but only a few have focused on the differences between male and female
photographers. In this article, the hypothesis was accepted by assessing the
following aspects: studying the differences between men’s and women’s point of
gaze (where one is looking); examining the differences between male and female
photographer’s emotions; studying and comparing the works of various photographers;
examining the working conditions of photographers; reviewing the different
reactions a single subject might have towards a male or female photographer; and
finally, studying some of the interviews and memoirs of successful photographers.
Generally female photographers are more drawn to story, narrative and emotion,
but many males are also drawn to such subjects; male photographers are
more drawn to technical and action-filled subjects, but many females are also
drawn to such subjects. Hence, for each stereotype regarding photographs and
gender, numerous photographers or photographs can be found that challenge or
defy it. Men and women capture different photographs but this should not give us
the excuse to impose our stereotypes and clichés on a particular photographer,
whether male or female.

The role and portrayal of Women in the media & Photography field as a Journalist & Photographer too.!!

The status of women in India has been subject to many great changes over the past few millennia. From equal status with men in ancient times through the low points of the medieval period,to the promotion of equal rights by many reformers, the history of women in India has been eventful.

Media is considered as a traditionally male job and generally it is thought that women journalists can not skip the glass ceiling phenomenon. India is another minefield of challenges for journalists, especially female journalists. The problem prevails mostly in electronic media scenario as women are making more appearances on screen with the boom of private TV channels. They are considered less prominent. Female journalists working in developed countries are also facing such problems but still female journalists are in the initial stages towards progress.

In India, with the advent of increasing number of private TV channels, female journalists quite often appear on our television screens. Anchor women, foreign correspondents, and special correspondents are omnipresent in the main broadcast news shows and in current affairs programs. They are considered beautiful and successful women, as well as trend-setters with respect to clothes, make-up and hairstyles. Print journalism, where the physical image is replaced by the reporter's name, this phenomenon is much less prominent than electronic media.

In spite of the large entrance of female personnel into the professional work of information, women on top of editorial staff are still a scanty minority: this is, however, no different to Western countries. Thanks to television, female journalists have acquired great visibility.

The phrase ‘woman photographer’ now seems outmoded, but in the 1970s and 1980s, certainly in Britain and North America, there seemed a need to emphasize women's participation. While the term was resisted by some as belittling, for others its use was political, drawing attention to female activity while also implying distinctive styles and subject matter. A number of women-only organizations, including archives, were established as spaces for women photographers and for stories told from women's perspectives. For instance, women-only agencies not only gave some priority to women's lives in their coverage but also aimed to support female photojournalists' efforts to retain influence over the use of their pictures. Likewise, community-based photo workshops offered opportunities for women to work together to explore themes outside the dominant modes of formalist aesthetics and decisive-moment documentary. A preoccupation with the domestic, with family relations—both ‘normal’ and dysfunctional—and sexuality, typified much of the work.
